ThOraNai - Tamil Movie Review

Hi buddies, I am back and "Appearing" this time in my blog with the review of Vishal's Appearance (a) ThOraNai !

Another 100% commercial venture from Vishal. Definitely better than Malaikottai. Plans are cut out. The team has decided to entertain in the first half with some comedy, scintilating songs, love story with shriya and build some story in between. Gear up in the second half and end with some preachings for every one :-)

As usual Vishal comes to Chennai city from a village on a mission. Searching for his lost brother. Poor fellow how many films he will come like this from a village without any money but spends lavishly on his girl friend. It is obvious he will have one friend in Chennai and that is Santhanam. This Santhanam has garnered lot of fans these days even by seeing his name people are clapping ! As usual these two rock the screen with their humourous wits which is lively especially the scenes involving mayilsamy, paravai muniyamma & shriya. In some places the roof comes down.

As usual there are two powerful dons who guns down everyone who are against them. one played by senior villain prakash raj. As usual prakash raj at his best. It is a cake walk character for him as he has done umpteen number of films like this earlier. Out of the two dons one don is the lost brother. I forgot his name. But he acts these kind of roles easily. He has done similar kind of role in Danush's pollathavan. Finally the Lost brother and the younger brother vishal come together and see the end of the another don and how it happens forms the rest of the story !

It is actually a cleverly knitted screenplay saves this film. Bits & pieces the film is too good. To mention a few:

1. aarthi, shriya, vishal & santhanam comedy scenes.

2. Minister role played by shiyaji shinde. especially when he dances kathaaza kannala

3. Number of "aaapus" vishal gives to the villains :-)

4. Cameo role played by Pandiyarajan

5. The "panjayat scene" is awesum and one old person who comments each and every statement without any logic is too good. The same person appears on the last scene and makes the people to tickle & leave the cinema hall with a smiling note. A positive sign indeed for this movies success.

Editing is by V.T.Vijayan. Manisharma has scored the music. Since vishal also has telugu market they cleverly roped in Manisharma as music director. He has given some interesting numbers to listen. Vaa vaa chellam, Title song thoranai, pattucha pattucha songs are hit numbers and the song sequences are picturised well. Manjaseela mandakini is another racy number like manmadha rasa and both shriya & vishal had danced well for this song.

Shriya looks sexy. She looks beautiful on screen. Good on song visuals. Though some intimate scenes are there in the film, as a pair I feel the chemistry between vishal & shriya is missing in this film. Good fight scenes.

Overall good debut for Saba Ayyappan, new director. His dialogues are different, carries lot of punch, in some places written very very humorously. Vishal has come out successful once again. With no good movies around to compete, this film may be a commercially successful film. Watch this film without any expectation, without any logic, you might enjoy it !

Pasanga - Movie Review

I happened to see this movie which is getting good reviews in the media which had tempted me to have a look at this movie. To my surprise, I was shocked to see this wonderful stunner and it was really a sweet shock to me.

After Anjali, a full fledged kids movie where lot of little characters had performed so well. I would say each and everyone acted in the movie had lived into their characters. The Director has cleverly inserted a small love story inside the kids story. Not even a single place where you get bored instead it makes each and every frame interesting to watch. There is a message for kids and parents in this movie which is well told. I went to watch this movie without any expectations and I returned back with a satisfaction that I had spent some quality time in my life watching this movie !

James Vasanthan, the Music director had come out with interesting numbers in his second movie after subramaniyapuram. Dr.Balamuralikrishna's song is so powerful while watching with the visuals. I am not going to write anything about the story instead I am recommending strongly each one of you to see this film. It is a clever move to release this movie in summer vacations. I could see lot of kids around and enjoying this movie thoroughly. Thats the strength for this movie's success.

KICK - TELUGU MOVIE REVIEW

I am very big fan of Ravi Teja. It is always interesting and thrilling to watch a Ravi Teja’s movie and reviewing it. I had the opportunity of watching his recent flick “Kick” on the very first day of its release.

I generally don’t miss his films watching them first day. It is like watching a Rajinikanth movie on its very first day and this guy has all the potential to entertain the mass and become superstar like Rajini and it is happy to see so much of his fans out on the first day cheering each and every frame of Ravi Teja. He has the story subjects which will suit only to him and no other hero can do justice to the role he plays except Ravi Teja. His comical sense, dialogue delivery, wow man ! Being a tamilian not knowing telugu that fluently and can only understand telugu a little, I could enjoy a lot and I can imagine how the telugu knowing people would have enjoyed this movie. Language is not important for watching a Ravi Teja movie. Each and every frame of Ravi Teja will make you understand the happenings very clearly. With some of the tamil stars like 12B Shyam, Nalini, Shayaji Shinde are also on the fray, I felt like watching a Tamil movie and my goodness Ravi Teja speaks tamil also here and there in the movie which confirms my statement.


Story Line

You don’t expect or need a scintillating story to have a Ravi Teja in it. Whatever he wants to do, he wants to do it with a “Kick” and whatever he does to make a child happy and smile, that is what is important to him. Nothing else. These are the two lines story of this movie. One might wonder what these lines can do for a 3 hours, 16 reel movie. That is Ravi Teja’s Magic. You don’t need a story or logic to watch a Ravi Teja movie. Still you find it watching his movie a paisa vasool.


Ravi Teja

Since I have written a lot about him, let me add only a few lines on this section. His magical presence, his style, his comedy, his comical fight, his dancing ability and my goodness he has sung one song also. What else you want from him. He is like our tamil Ramarajan who always wears dark colour dress contrasting to his physique. Ravi Teja is like him, always wear dashing dresses. Cool – Cooling Glass. Hats off to his costume designer who had made him look so stylish and breezy.

Ileana

The surprise packet of this movie, I should say is Ileana. She has improved a lot from her earlier films and this film she should rate it as her number one movie. Her style, her dresses, her acting, her emotions, her dancing, her comic style, she looks so beautiful and her pairing with Ravi Teja adds colour and vision. It is good that the director has given this role to Ileana and not to Genelia. Ileana will make a big round after this movie. She has handled her portion with ease. It is lovely to watch this slim beauty Ileana in this movie.

Thaman – Music Director

I guess he is the first time music director for this movie. And all the songs are rocking man. Especially the song “I don’t want love dhina dhina thO” with Ravi Teja dancing, it is undoubtedly the number one superhit song. I have heard this song more than 100 + times now and still it is interesting to hear it repeatedly for some more time. Karthik has sung this superhit song superbly. Dancing of Ravi Teja in this song is awesome and people were clapping throughout this song. “Bossu memory lossu” another funny song sung by Ravi Teja and others is very catchy while watching it visually. “Dhim Thana naayirae” is another superb beat song and it is awesum to see Ravi Teja & Ileana dancing it in a foreign locale. Chithra has sung this song superbly. “Dil kalase” sung by actress Anuksha will definitely attract the younger generation with some good beats in it. When I heard this song for the first time, I thought this movies music is by Yuvan shankar Raja. Such is the impact in this song. “Gore Gore” is another lovely song and once again it is superb to watch it in big screen. Karthik & Jyotsna has sung this song melody beautifully. Even the shortest slow tragedy melody “manase thedisela” is superb to watch it visually.

This movie’s Music Rocks and Hats off to Thaman. Welcome to Indian Music. You have generated a lot of interest for your next movie now. “I don’t want love” is my pick of the song and it sounds Awesome man. Keep up the good work man !


Editing & Photography

I don’t know who had done this but both of them had done a great job. To look a Ravi Teja film interesting you should have the best editing skill and this guy has provided that. Not even a single frame you get bored and the story movies like a jet speed.

Watching it visually in a big screen, this movie looks so awesum and all the locations are pleasant to watch. Thanks for Good photography. Petronos Tower in Malaysia this guy has picturised in a different angle and not like other movies. Entire Malaysia looks beautiful through this guys photographic lens. Rich visuals I would say.

Ravi Teja and his Comical Team

Ravi Teja always shares screen with his regular Comical Team which includes brahmanandham reddy and few others whose name I don’t know. Whenever these people are there together the roof comes down. Especially the person who acts as memory loss doctor, wow man his face tells every thing not even the dialogue. I have never seen the whole auditorium laughing so loudly on their comical acts. This shows that this movie will be a big success. It is beyond doubt that this film is going to be a superhit. Whenever brahmanandam says Raj, Prakash Raj and Ravi Teja says, Ni, Gajini the whole auditorium bursts with laughter. This comical team plays an important role for the big success of this film. Hats off man to all of you.

Actor Shyam & Others

I guess this is his first telugu movie. Good choice. He has done full justice his role. I like the last frame when he gives up his tirade against Ravi Teja and the dialogue he delivers to Kota Srinivasa Rao. This film would give Shyam some more offers in Telugu. Actress Nalini, Shayaji Shinde as Ravi Tejas father do justice to their cameo role.


Direction

To direct a Ravi Teja you should be extremely talented & have lot of comic sense. I guess this director has this a lot and this could be seen in each and every comical scene. Hats off man you did a splendid job. Forget the logic, its flaws and who bothered about this when your main aim is only to entertain and make the audience laugh.


My Verdict

Non challengingly this movie is going to be a Super Hit. I am not saying this as a Ravi Teja’s fan. I am writing this judgement based on the pulse of the audience I have watched. I knew Ravi Teja wants to give a superhit this time and he has done just that. The film has all the ingredients to become a Superhit.

I am going to watch this movie once again that is no doubt for that matter I will watch as many times only for the song “I don’t want love”

Hei guys don’t miss it. Watch “Kick” and “Freak” out.

I have lot of audio reviews lined up. The first one I chose is this movie. MOdhi ViLaiyadu. Charan the Director has tried a new combination this time forgetting his old buddy Bharathwaj. Hariharan & Leslie make their first debut in Tamil Movies. Quiet an interesting choice of tunes they have offered. All the songs are penned by Diamond Pearl Kavignyar !

1. veLLaikaari - sung by hariharan, leslie and Achu

veLLaikaari the word itself is catchy. Indha paatai pinni pedal eduthu irukkiraargaL Hariharanum leslieyum. Excellent sounds generated and a very entertaining fresh tune to listen. The way "Everybody" word is delivered is awesum to ears. Charanathil varum "appothu peNN vaetai aadidum aangaL kootam" hariharan paadum style superb ! This song Rocks man. It is not going to go out of scene that easily. This song is going to make a big round in all entertainment channels & FM channels. That is for sure. Awesum debut Hariharan & Leslie. 2. Otrai vaarthaiyil - sung by shaaan

Otrai vaarthaiyil sollanumna song sung by Shaan is "superb". I guess shaan has sung for the first time in Tamil. Entertaining melody ! Indhap paadalil diamond kavi adhigam therigiraar !

3. Chikki mukki - Leslie & Surmukhi !

Another interesting fast paced melody beautifully sung by Leslie & Surmukhi. I like the way Leslie's delivers "chikki mukki" ! This song is definitely will be in the lips of all youngsters ! Chorus portions are good to hear. Benny dayal, rahul nambiyar, ramya, subiksha, kalyani & rita all leading singers render the chorus portions.

4. paathikaathal - sung by Bombay Jayashree & Sunitha Sarathy

the starting line when I heard I thought it was Asha bhonsle ! Whatever Bombay Jayashree sung in films are hit numbers and this will be one more to her kitty. Sunitha sarathy joins BJ and she has a powerful voice. BJ's carnatic swarams with different sounds in the background sounds good. This song will take some time to groove into our ears. paathikaathal is a catchy word ! Short and sweet number.

5. Latcham vaarthaigaL - sung by ranjani

Another peppy number stylishly sung by Ranjani. Indha paatai patri solla "latcham vaarthaigaL" thaevai illai endraalum rendu vaarthaigaLLa sollalaam "simply superb" Charanam portion is interesting to listen ! Charan padathila "Charan"athula concentrate pannitaanga pOla :-) Again short & sweet but something is there in this song to have a repeat hearing !

6. mOdhi viLaiyaadu - sung by Deva & Hariharan

Different contrasting combination of singers. Devavum Hariharanum kalakkalaaga mOdhi viLaiyaadi irukkiraargaL ! Hariharan Excels in this song. Deva adakki vaasiththu irukkirar. Yaelae "Dhoni" paavam avara vitrungapa ! paatlaeyum dhoniya vechi viLaiyaadraanga :-) devavum hariharanum. Hariharans lastaa sollum "pOraada vaa" is awesum !
