On Location - Thottaal Poo Malarum

Instructions are flying thick and fast on the sets of ‘Thottal Poo Malarum,’ as P. Vasu, the man who helmed some memorable films including ‘Chinna Thambi,’ ‘Nadigan’ and ‘Chandramukhi’ is busy winding u p the latest venture that stars his son Shakthi as the hero.

“Turn this side,” he asks his son and advises Gowri Munchal, heroine, not to look straight into the camera. Ready for screening.

“I have finished shooting and the film is to be released soon,” declares Vasu. “Both Shakthi and Gowri have lived up to the expectations. Particularly the hero does not show in any frame that it is his debut. He has handled both sentiment and dance well and has ‘fought’ with vigour. I’ll wait for people to give their verdict,” he concluded.
‘Thottal Poo Malarum’ is produced by Saphire Media Infrastruchural Limited.

Shakthi said he was happy to work with a top director. “He is a strict disciplinarian. He knows how to get the best out of the actors. If I have done fifty per cent of what he wanted, I’ll certainly win the race.

“I have appeared in a few Tamil films as a child artist and Gowri has acted as heroine in a couple of Telugu films. I am looking forward to the release of the film,” he said.Filmed in Mumbai

Director Vasu said he was sure of the film’s success. “It is not easy to rope in actor-director Rajkiran. But after listening to the story he whole-heartedly agreed to act. Similarly it was one of the best comedy efforts from Vadivelu. The scenes involving both were shot in Mumbai. Rajkiran is acting as Don and Vadivelu as the duplicate don.

“Both have done their work in the best possible way. I have used more than 300 junior artists in a boxing set and for all the songs I have used more than fifty dancers.

“The Mehndi song demanded special attention from Yuvan Shankar Raja who said that it was first of its kind for him. Two songs have been shot in Bangkok and Pattaya,” he said

The cast has Sukanya, Nasser, Santhanam, Sriranjani, Madan Bob and Mayilsamy.

The camera is handled by Ashok Kumar’s son Akash Ashok Kumar while editing is done by K. Pazhanivel.

P. Vasu has written the story, screenplay and dialogue.
