Initial Reports

Come Diwali, Crackers lit the silver screens.

Indha deepavali andru veli vanthu irukkum padangaLil endha padam nalla padam enbathai vida entha padam siRantha flop padam endra discussionil makkaL iRangi vittathaga muthal thagavaLgal veLi aagi uLLana.

Azhagiya Thamizhmagan, Vel, Kannamoochi Yaenada, Pollathavan muraiyae thamizhilum, Om Santhi Om, Saawariya hindiyilum migap periya aLavil paesapadum padamaaga veLi vanthu irukindrana.

Letz see what Initial reports says about the following movies:

1. Azhagiya Thamizh Magan:

The success of movies like Ghilli and Pokkiri ensured Vijay a place in the hearts of many, especially the college-going youth. Today, the Illayathalapathi, who is on the verge of being crowned as heir to the superstar can't afford to mistake bad science experiments for scripts.

A R Rahman does make an excellent effort to rev up the proceedings, but sadly for him, the songs are poorly represented in the film. If you take away the sheen of the costumes and the richness of the sets and locals, it's appalling how pedestrian the dance sequences are.

Some of the worst scenes in the movie are the special effects sequences. Whether budgets still remain too low for good special effects is arguable.

Namitha, all the few hundred kilos of her, is barely able to lift herself up, let alone the film. Sayayi Shinde and Geetha are wasted in inconsequential roles.

A die-hard Vijay fan might be able to brave the movie, but for the others, this movie can be given a miss.

En paarvai: Ennathaan reports vanthaalum, Vijay padathai miss seiya eppadi manasu varum!

2.Vael:

Director Hari has packed enough punches and swishes of swords to keep the proceedings' flow taut and nice.

Though he has to walk along a thin line that identifies the two characters he plays, Surya has justice to his double-role. While Asin is adequate, Kalabhavan Mani grunts, groans and hams his way.

Yuvan Shankar Raja's tunes are catchy -- especially the dream song "Kobakkara Kiliye."

Though the producer M Chintamani hasn't plonked too much money on sets, it is obvious that oodles of cash have been splurged on converting automobiles into scrap by explosions (including a bus).

Cinematography by Priyan, without being extravagant, has a few surprises -- especially during the shots of the hurtling train (probably the last time one would see a metre-gauge-train in a new movie) almost running over the cast.

The saving graces of Vel include the fact that it is slick, neat, moves at a brisk pace to keep everyone interested, displays no cleavage and has very little blood and gore in spite of the violent storyline.

En paarvai: Padathil rendu suryaavam. Oru surya partha innoru surya free pola. Let me start my Deepavali with Vel !

3.Kannamoochi Yaenada:

Apart from the movie's director Priya, producer and cinematographer, the lyricist who wrote all the songs is also a woman, Thamarai.

This is not a movie that goes from point A to point B. So don't go in expecting a plot, logic and such mundane things.

At the end of the day Kannamoochi Enada is, simply put, good fun. Everybody, especially Satyaraj, Prithwiraj, looks like they had a lot of fun on the set, and they want to invite you to join in. Are you not tempted?

En paarvai: Vael vida I am really tempted to see this movie first. Irunthaalum, I will stick to watch Vael first. Nalla padangaLai nidhanama rasithu paarkanum!

4/5. Sawaariya & Om Santhi Om

Initial reports says there is huge confusion in Mumbai to rate which among these two are super flops.

En paarvai: Let me wait till some-buddy sponsor these two movies. I dont want to waste my money after hearing the initial reports of these two films.
