Masak kali - Delhi 6 - Audio Review - Music by A.R.Rehman

I am sorry. I am going to review this album at a later date. I am not a great fan of A.R.Rehman. I am like others - Yes. a contemporary fan of Raja Group. First Maestro isaignyani iLaiyaraja and now his sons Yuvan Shankar Raja and Karthik Raja. But I dont miss any album of A.R.Rehman's. Be it in any language. This Delhi-6 album was released simultaneously with Slumdog Millionaire. I preferred to buy and listen Slumdog Millionaire first since ARR has been nominated for Oscars. I was stuck with Slumdog for past one week specially with the song "Jai Ho". Then I thought ok let me move on to this Delhi-6 Album now. Now again I am stuck with the first song of this Album - "Masakali". After listening to this song. I should say I had gone beserk, mad and what not? The word Masakali itself is catchy and the number of times it is being repeated sticks to your mind as well. This tune is messmerising and it never allows you to move on to the next song. To be honest, I have not heard the rest of the album other than this. That was the only reason, I said I will be reviewing it at a later date. Other reviews say ARR has scored music according to the situations in the movie.

Mohit Chauhan the singer of Masakali has superb voice and I would like to appreciate ARR as he has chosen the right person to sing this song. His voice is very powerful and at the end of the song his laugh is classic. The aalap humming portion is too good. Lot of variations in the song. The song creates enjoyable mood and makes you to dance at times.

I loved the portion where mohit sings "Udiyo na dariyo kar manmaani manmaani manmaani, Badhiyo naa mudiyo kar naadani". Especially when he sings this line for the second time the back drop drum beats are superb. It would have been a treat if ARR had sung this song and included as additional entry in the CD which has a big list. A total of 10 songs. I have heard this song more than 100 + times now and it is still going strong. On listening to this song, I have to admit fully that ARR is a born genius and ARR rocks in this song!

My Recommendation - Just Grab this Audio CD, only for this "Masakali" song ! It is released by T-Series and priced Rs.160/- I came to know that Landmark Chennai had run out of Stock since its Release and it seems they have indented a bulk order for this Album once again.
