I am back after a long time! I am sorry for not updating my blog on regular basis. I could notice lot of people visit my blog world wide. Some of them are my regular visitors. I thank all of them for reading my blog. I could also notice lot of people visit my blog for the first time. I thank them also.
This time, I wanted to write on Airtel Super Singer contest which is being aired on Vijay TV. The one and only programme I watch every week without any miss from Monday to Wednesday.
Last week round was Carnatic Round. It was scintillating to watch the super 7 contestants perform in these round. The outstanding performance was by none other than Rahini Sri.
Excuse me Rahini. I was one among the "hate rahini group" who wanted Rahini to perform badly every episode. Sometimes she did prove that she is one of the expected eliminate contestant.
But this carnatic round was her round. She did a superlative performance by choosing to sing "Ellam inbamayam" which is full of swaram based from the raaga simmendra madhyamam. I was stunned to see such an immense talent hidden in her and she proved everyone wrong this round that she is not the contestant to be taken very likely. It was an amazing performance. Everything fell in place. Though the smile was missing she was looking very pretty that day.
After she finished singing the immediate response from my side was to look out for the original "Ellam inbamayam" song sung by Late Smt. M.L.Vasanthakumari from "ManamagaL" which was released in 1951. After listening to MLVs song, I had listened to Rahini's rendering once again. Other than the voice, everything was on the dot. MLV had sung beautifully and it was good effort by Rahini for choosing this song and justifying it. If you had to choose such a great singers song either you have to over power what they have done or atleast match the original version. That is what exactly Rahini did. After her rendition, I heard that lot of enquiry / demand for MLV's CD which contains this song in Landmark & Music World.
Many of the stage singers feel shy to sing SPB & KJ.Yesudoss song while performing in stage. Because when you choose their songs who had already given their best, they either have to match their singing or sing better than them. The second choice is very remote. But Rahini Sri scored by matching the original version of Ellam inbamayam.
Her voice trainer Anantji was commenting that Rahini Sri cried on seeing many people writing very badly on her performances in some blog. This superlative performance must silence her critics now. Having proven her mettle, now it is time for her to perform well in the coming rounds.
My wishes to Rahini Sri. I commend her performance once again.
